Winston Marquez was signed in 2003 from Venezuela. He didn’t make it to the Twins minor league system until 2007 and he missed all of 2008 due to injury. He bounced back nicely in 2009. He appeared in 15 games, and started 2 of them. Prior to last year he was exclusively a starter. He has nasty stuff, as shown by his 13.5 strikeout per nine innings ratio. He did struggle with control, walking 17 in 30 innings. If he can harness his control, he will be a name to watch.
